Calder Circus, Framed Lithograph
Rare, framed offset lithograph on wove paper from Alexander Calder's Circus, originally printed in 1964 by Art in America with Perls Galleries New York (from drawings done in the 1930's). Signed in the lower right, Calder 1931. Newly framed and matted.
“The fame of Calder’s circus spread quickly between the years 1927 and 1930. All the Paris art world came to know it. It brought him his first great personal success. But what was more important, the circus also provided the first steps in Calder’s development as an original sculptor” - James Sweeney
